Some people don’t believe me when I say that Keller Williams Realty will be #1 in the Twin Cities within 5 years. Some say I’m not realistic..
Who would of thought that Keller Williams Realty would grow to 1200 agents in the Twin Cities in 8 years? In a market dominated by two traditional old fashioned companies with great leadership and a grip on the market. It happened.
Who would have thought Keller Williams Realty could come in- and in 8 years be named the #1- yes #1 TOP Workplace in the entire state by Star Tribune and Workplace Dynamics? It happened.
Who would of thought industry expert Stefan Swanepoel would come to our Broker Summit earlier in the year- and part of his presentation say Keller Williams Realty is clearly the company of 2010 and the future. It happened.
Kind of like the stock market- past performance does not indicate future results.
What’s happening today? – Keller Williams Team Leaders all over the Twin Cities are meeting with agents from Edina Realty, Coldwell Banker, Remax, and others- that are sick of the TOP DOWN Corporate environment- where agents are all treated differently, are sick of being overcharged on fees, and are sick of making money for the owners of those companies.
The Tipping Point will come- soon enough. Its not tomorrow, its probably not in 2010- but its soon. That agents at the other firms will finally understand that we are a better business model- and will make the move to Keller Williams..And- when they do. They will wish they did years earlier- like everyone else.
While this is happening in the Twin Cities- the decision will be validated by what’s happening on a national level with Keller Williams- Soon enough we will be named the 2nd largest real estate company in the United States. Can 80,000 agents be wrong?!?! I don’t think so. Within a year- #1 in the United States. Then to launch worldwide.
You see- Our culture of sharing, open books, and treating our agents like business partners is misunderstood by our competition. We know its important to take the high road, tell the truth, and continue to have our priorities in line by staying true to our values. That will never change at KW. We also know that we can be flexible and continue to make decisions within our company that are both win-win for the agents, and for the companies.

Great post Perry. Funny thing about real estate brokerages and rankings. What makes a company #1? Is it the brand or the agents? Great way to find out is a simple question…..if you took all the top agents in the #1 firm and took away the brokerage brand would those agents still be successful? YES. If you took all the top agents away from the brokerage, would they still be successful? NO! So if you are currently at the #1 brokerage understand that it is only because you are there….so ask yourself if you are being treated accordingly…if not, contact Perry a guy I know personally, a guy I know to provide proportionate value for every dollar and minute shared with your brokerage, a guy destined to be #1 by making you #1. Wonderful post, Perry. It’s very hard for a lot of agents who have been with big blue and big red for a long time to make the switch. However,when they do, and a whole group of them flock over together to one of the KW offices in their chosen area, they will be delighted and wish they had done it sooner.
