Luxury Homes Division Stakes a Claim in the Twin Cities

Minneapolis, MN 4/1/2011— Keller Williams Realty offices in Minneapolis, Edina and Wayzata have announced the launch of their Luxury Homes by Keller Williams division. Dedicated to serving the high-end home market, the members-only Luxury Homes division of Keller Williams Realty offers eligible associates extensive training and a luxury home designation.

“We’re excited about the opportunity to grow our Luxury Homes division by providing exceptional value and service to the high-end market,” states Tom Vance, Operating Partner of the three offices.

The Luxury Homes division allows more KW associates to capitalize on the luxury homes market across Twin Cities. “We know that this program provides greater visibility for our luxury listings, a strong support system for our agents currently servicing affluent clients, and a firm foundation for growth to our associates who are looking to key into the market. It’s a win-win for everyone,” says Todd Butzer, Regional Director for the North Central Region.

The educational requirement is provided by industry heavyweight, The Institute for Luxury Home Marketing (www.luxuryhomemarketing.com), as part of a continuing partnership between The Institute and Keller Williams Realty.

“We know that when we listen to what our agents need, we develop the right product for them,” says Mary Tennant, president and COO of Keller Williams Realty, Inc. in Austin, TX. “This program was built by our agents, for our agents. As an agent-centric company, we wouldn’t do it any other way.”

The division has grown in several markets across the country. KW Luxury Home Consultants and their clients have been introduced to new branding and marketing materials, an international Web presence (www.kwluxuryhomes.com) and a highly-successful agent-to-agent referral system, as well as discounted pricing for advertising in targeted print publications.

One of my Real Estate Coaches Rich Rector gives perspective as we finish the first quarter of the year. This is the ideal time to step back and re-evaluate your progress in relationship to your 2011 goals and objectives. As you know, we live from the world of there is no failure, only feedback. Take a moment, operating from this perspective, and start to consider the following:

1) Where am I currently based on my 2011 goals and objectives?

2) What did I do extremely well in the first quarter and how will I build on that during the second quarter?

3) Where did I commit to spend the time and yet failed to follow through? What has this cost me? What adjustments will I make?

4) Did I work efficiently and, if not, what adjustments will I make?

5) Is there someone/something that I could utilize allowing me to create some leverage in my business?

6) Is there an opportunity available in the market that I want to seize in the second quarter? What adjustments do I need to make?

7) Overall, on a scale of 1-10, how would I rate my first quarter performance?

8.) What do I want to accomplish in the 2nd quarter? What will that require?

Most successful people continually assesses their results, evaluate performance and makes adjustments along the way. Be honest with yourself in your assessment of the first 3 months of the year. Make adjustments, stay positive, and get up and bring it everyday!

The quote from the video with Will Smith about sums it up. Those who are successful don’t care about what’s happened in the past, and what others believe… Our passion, drive and the truth is all that matters. Some people don’t believe me when I say that Keller Williams Realty will be #1 in the Twin Cities within 5 years. Some say I’m not realistic..

Who would of thought that Keller Williams Realty would grow to 1200 agents in the Twin Cities in 8 years? In a market dominated by two traditional old fashioned companies with great leadership and a grip on the market. It happened.

Who would have thought Keller Williams Realty could come in- and in 8 years be named the #1- yes #1 TOP Workplace in the entire state by Star Tribune and Workplace Dynamics? It happened.

Who would of thought industry expert Stefan Swanepoel would come to our Broker Summit earlier in the year- and part of his presentation say Keller Williams Realty is clearly the company of 2010 and the future. It happened.

Kind of like the stock market- past performance does not indicate future results.

What’s happening today? – Keller Williams Team Leaders all over the Twin Cities are meeting with agents from Edina Realty, Coldwell Banker, Remax, and others- that are sick of the TOP DOWN Corporate environment- where agents are all treated differently, are sick of being overcharged on fees, and are sick of making money for the owners of those companies.

The Tipping Point will come- soon enough. Its not tomorrow, its probably not in 2010- but its soon. That agents at the other firms will finally understand that we are a better business model- and will make the move to Keller Williams..And- when they do. They will wish they did years earlier- like everyone else.

While this is happening in the Twin Cities- the decision will be validated by what’s happening on a national level with Keller Williams- Soon enough we will be named the 2nd largest real estate company in the United States. Can 80,000 agents be wrong?!?! I don’t think so. Within a year- #1 in the United States. Then to launch worldwide.

You see- Our culture of sharing, open books, and treating our agents like business partners is misunderstood by our competition. We know its important to take the high road, tell the truth, and continue to have our priorities in line by staying true to our values. That will never change at KW. We also know that we can be flexible and continue to make decisions within our company that are both win-win for the agents, and for the companies.

Come be a part of something amazing… Perry Hurth, Team Leader Keller Williams Integrity Lakes-Minneapolis. 612.821.7474

When I’m feeling out of sorts…out of motivation…out of energy…it’s probably because I’m doing too many things that lack real meaning. I’m giving my attention to too much “stuff” and not enough “substance”. I’m trying to simplify. I’m trying to leverage…delegate…or eliminate all together. Gary Keller says, “to live big…you have to get small.” Get narrow…focused…purposeful. I like that word…purposeful. Full of purpose.

Do you ever wake up and sit down at your computer and just start hacking away at your email? Do you then open your calendar and start mindlessly going through the checklist? Then do you pick up the phone and just start returning messages…making calls that need to be made…doing all the stuff you’re supposed to do? When I think about it, many days are like this. It doesn’t feel important. It doesn’t register high on the Richter scale. The tasks have no purpose. We call this “going through the motions”. Now, I love to get things done. Check things off. I am driven to accomplish. But accomplish what? I gain satisfaction in just doing “stuff” but lately there is just too much to do and me…myself…and I…just can’t get it all done!

When I’m lost in the tasks themselves, I forget all about the “Why”. The big picture. I find myself asking…”What big picture?” It helps to be married to a “big picture” guy. Someone who is always asking about the reasoning behind the task I’m doing. The next statement is usually something like…”you need a system for that so someone else can do it.” How true. The system can take the list…make it predictable…pass it on to someone else…and free my soul to go back to the things that motivate and energize me! Back to the things that matter. Back to the Big Why. Back to the Purpose. To be full of Purpose….we can’t be full of the Meaningless.

Give the “stuff” to someone else. Give the Purposeful back to yourself. Live the day, not just for any reason…but for the right reason. Get up in the morning and ask yourself, “What are my goals? What do I need to do this month, week, day…right now…to move me closer to that goal?” If the laundry…the yard work…the filing…the organizing…won’t help reach that goal, then get someone else to do it. When you leverage the less important…it’s not that you won’t be busy…you will just be free of “busy work”. It won’t make your day less “full”…it will simply give you your time back…so that you can make your day purpose “full”.

I’m speaking staight to myself and myself…better listen…or I will wakeup one day and realize that I’ve worked myself to exhaustion…and did it on purpose…because I knew better!

Written by Shaun Rawls, Operating Partner for The Rawls Group (www.RawlsGroup.org) of Keller Williams market centers in Atlanta and Regional Director for KW’s New York Tri-State Region.

I recently had a conversation with David Pollay, who, among other things, is the author of an upcoming book titled “The Law of the Garbage Truck.” I’ve been reading this book, which is full of messages and strategies that remind us that we always have a choice when it comes to who and what we let into our lives. David Pollay creates a vivid picture of the garbage that so many people carry around with them and how they tend to dump their garbage on those of us who allow them to do so. Best of all, he challenges us to declare our personal and professional lives “No Garbage Trucks! Zones.”

When you think about it, our inputs determine our outputs. What we take in determines what we put out. That’s why the great Jim Rohn would say, “If you want the stuff on the highest shelves, then you have to stand on a higher stack of books.” The better the books you read, the smarter you get. The smarter you get, the better you think. The better you think, the better you do. The better you do, the more you succeed. The more you succeed, the more significant you can become. The more significant you become, the greater the legacy you leave. Rohn said that “the best things in life are usually located on the highest shelves, where not everyone can reach them.” What a great reminder he was of how simple it is to succeed. I think David Pollay would agree with Jim Rohn, because his book underscores the notion of “garbage in, garbage out.

Unfortunately, what’s easy to do is even easier not to do. As a broker who counsels with hundreds of professionals each year, it amazes me how success boils down to one simple decision. The most successful people I know have simply DECIDED to succeed. They haven’t decided to succeed as long as it’s easy, or as long as the market doesn’t shift, or as long as they can afford it, or as long as someone doesn’t outmaneuver or outwit or outplay or underprice them. They decide to succeed. Period.

Think about this: When obstacles present themselves in your life, do you feel that they threaten your success? Most people do. I used to, too. Then, I realized that the more successful people in my life have a very different perspective of their obstacles. Because their success is certain, they perceive obstacles merely as ingredients in their ultimate success – ingredients that are simply part of the journey. I cannot begin to tell you how much freedom we can gain from improving our perspective around this issue.

If you think that your success has more to do with what you do (or what’s done to you) than how you think, I disagree. There are plenty of examples of people who have succeeded on the outside at very high levels, only to lose it all because they never were that successful in their own minds. People make millions of dollars in business only to become bankrupt because they never really believed they were worth the success they achieved. People perform at the highest levels in sports only to end up in an eternal slump because they never really believed that they could truly be “the best” at anything. If you want to succeed in business, in your relationships, in your faith, in anything, then you have to DECIDE to succeed at it…for better or for worse.

This year Gary Keller was explaining to a group of people why he plans his vacations and his play time at the beginning of each year BEFORE he plans his work time. He said, “I do this because I know I’m going to work hard and I’m going to need it. And I know I’m going to be successful, so I’ll be able to afford it.” Brilliant. The bottom line is that Gary books vacations way ahead of time because he already KNOWS that he’s going to work hard and be successful. Gary just happens to be one of the most successful people I know.

Year after year, too many agents “wait and see” before they plan their vacations and put their deposits down. They “wait and see” how their income is before they invest in a 33 touch program designed to produce massive results. They “wait and see” how their year is going to turn out before they create leverage and hire talent to help them succeed. This strategy all too often results in vacations never taken, touch programs never developed, talent never hired and results never achieved. In the Keller Williams course Quantum Leap, we teach that if you don’t plan your time, then someone else will!

It’s now June. We’re almost halfway through the year. Now is the time to make a pit stop and check your inputs, defend yourself against the garbage trucks who want to dump their mediocrity on you, and commit yourself to the decisions you need to make in order to have the life and business that you want. If you’ve been a passenger in your own life’s car, then move over and settle into the driver’s seat. Take control. Reconnect with your BIG WHY, re-focus on your goals and intentions, improve the books you read, improve the company you keep and DECIDE to succeed – rain or shine.

It’s been an awesome year so far, and I believe that the second half of 2010 may be one of the most critical times of the rest of our careers. Deciding to succeed and doing the time-tested, proven things that produce results is going to be a crucial part of our daily routines. Look at the results you want to achieve – that you REALLY want to achieve – and then make a list of the things that you do each day that directly impact, or cause, those results. This is a fantastically simple exercise that can call you out on a lack of focus or commitment to your goals. Often times what we want and what we are doing seem worlds apart. Re-evaluating where you are now and re-committing yourself to what you want and why you want it could be the most important thing you do this year.

Thanks for all you are doing to make a difference. And know that if you want to discuss any of your strategies and accountabilities, our leadership team at The Rawls Group is ready, willing and able to help you succeed at any level you wish to succeed. No one succeeds alone, and in this company, you’re never alone.
